Please be advised that updated information concerning works on the northbound carriageway of the A77 at Spittalhill is now available.

ESSENTIAL PARAPET REPLACEMENT ON A77 AT SPITTALHILL

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential bridge parapet and safety barrier replacements, as well as a protective crash deck system installation, on the A77 Kilmarnock Bypass at Spittalhill. This is a continuation of works that were previously postponed in June 2024. This work will take place as follows:

A77 Southbound Carriageway

The work will be carried out using continuous single lane closures in the southbound carriageway at this location from Monday 3^rd June until Tuesday 9^th July. There will then be an overnight total closure at this location between 8pm on Tuesday 9^th July and 6am on Wednesday 10^th July.

Following this overnight closure, narrow lanes and speed restrictions will be in place from Wednesday 10^th July until Thursday 25^th July, with an overnight closure between 8pm on Thursday 25^th July and 6am on Friday 26^th July.

There will then be continuous single lane closures at this location between Friday 26^th July and Sunday 22^nd September, with a final overnight total closure between 8pm on Sunday 22^nd September until 6am on Monday 23^rd September.

Diversion Information: Traffic will be diverted via the A77 Bellfield Interchange to the westbound A71. Vehicles will then follow the A78 south to Warrix Interchange and travel via the Monktonhead Roundabout and Dutchhouse Roundabouts, to re-join the southbound A77.

A77 Southbound Slip Road from B7038 Ayr Road:

The A77 southbound slip road from the B7038 Ayr Road will be closed on a 24-hour basis between Wednesday 24^th July and Sunday 6^th October.

Diversion Information: Traffic will continue on the B7038 Ayr Road and at the roundabout, take the fourth exit to B7072 Hurlford Road. Vehicles will then follow the signed diversion to A735 Queen’s Drive and Bellfield Interchange, to join the southbound A77 via the on-slip.

A77 Northbound Carriageway

The A77 northbound carriageway between Spittalhill and Bellfield Interchange will be closed between 8pm on Sunday 28th July and 6am on Monday 29th July.

There will then be continuous single lane closures at this location between 6am on Monday 29th July and 8pm on Sunday 6th October, with a final overnight closure between 8pm on Sunday 6th October and 6am on Monday 7th October.

Diversion Information: Traffic will be diverted off the A77 northbound to the B7038 (Ayr Road) and at the roundabout, will be directed to take the fourth exit to Hurlford Road. Traffic will then continue to A735 Queen’s Drive and will be able to re-join the A77 northbound at Bellfield Interchange.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition and safety of the parapet structure and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
