ESSENTIAL BRIDGE WORKS ON A77 BALLANTRAE BRIDGE COMMENCES MONDAY 19TH AUGUST

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential bridge refurbishment works on the A77 Ballantrae Bridge, from Monday 23rd September 2024 until Tuesday 18th March 2025 on a 24-hour basis. In advance of this, Scottish Water will be carrying out a temporary diversion of a water main contained within the structure which is due to commence on Monday 19th August until Friday 13th September. The water main will then be reinstated to its original location by Scottish Water upon completion of the first phase of the bridge refurbishment works.

Water main diversion works shall be carried out under phased lane closures of the A77 with three-way temporary traffic lights in place.

The bridge refurbishment works shall also be carried out through phased lane closures of the A77 with three-way temporary traffic lights in place, and occasional convoy working. Bus stops immediately south of the structure shall be closed for the duration of the bridge works and temporary bus stops will be in operation.

Full closures of the A77 between Girvan and Innermessan will be required on Monday 23rd September 2024 and Tuesday 18th February 2025 between 9pm and 6am to install and remove the traffic management required for the bridge works, a signed diversion will be in place. Bus routes shall remain unaffected.

Southbound traffic will be diverted from the A77 at Shallochpark Roundabout onto the A714 until Wigtown Road Junction Roundabout at Newton Stewart. Traffic shall then follow the A75 westbound until it’s junction with A751. Traffic shall then follow the A751 northbound where they will be able to re-join the A77.

Northbound traffic shall follow the above diversion in reverse.

This refurbishment scheme shall benefit all road users by ensuring the long-term integrity of the bridge, improving road safety and the condition of the carriageway.

A second phase of these works is planned for summer 2025 to address substructure defects.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
