A78 Seamill | Footway Improvements

Scheme Summary

Scheduled:
3 September to 29 October 2024
Summary:
Footway Improvements

FOOTWAY IMPROVEMENTS AND PEDESTRIAN REFUGE ISLAND INSTALLATION ON THE A78 AT SEAMILL COMMENCE TUESDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking active travel improvements to the existing footways adjacent to the A78 within Seamill from Glenbryde Road to Chapelton View, beginning on Tuesday 3rd September and continuing for approximately eight weeks. This work will take place under a combination of narrow lanes and single lane closures with temporary traffic lights between the hours of 7am and 5pm each day.

The improvements will involve widening the existing footways and installing five pedestrian refuge islands within these extents, dropped kerb improvements at access and side road junctions, and installing bollards.

Temporary bus stops will also be in operation.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, these works have been scheduled following the conclusion of the summer roadworks embargo agreed with elected members and other key stakeholders. This embargo is observed to ensure no disruption during the most economically critically months for this section of the southwest trunk road network.

All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

This scheme will benefit pedestrians and cyclists using this route each day, by improving the existing footways and reducing the need for further future maintenance.

We thank road users for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
